LEININGER

Leininger house is represented by the colour purple. In line with Madeleine Leininger’s Culture Care Theory to care for patient’s from a holistic perspective – we envision our house where individuals are supported and support one another to develop their character, explore their potential and grow together. The dragon of the Leininger house crest symbolises virtuousness in character – with the house vision being virtue in virtutem, meaning to live from strength to strength.

“Peer Mentoring Programme gives the chance for mentors to introduce freshies to NUS on a more personal level. With just a handful of freshies attached to a mentor. Being a mentor can be very much fulfilling. Mentors can be an outlet of advice for freshies who are entering an all new education environment at NUS. Being a mentor is not only helpful to freshies but also great for the mentors themselves. Being a mentor allowed me to better understand areas in the school and communicate with others. Being a mentor will be a great choice and opportunity to contribute to NUS nursing and the juniors who are coming into the course!”

“The mentors were a tremendous help in my transition to NUS. Knowing that there was someone I could count on to ask questions about the courses and the course during the FOC was reassuring. My mentor is extremely friendly and approachable which makes it really easy for us to connect and talk about nursing and many other things. We had many outings together as a group and had lots of fun! I am very grateful for my mentor as she had taught me a lot of valuable information and had given me great guidance when I was troubled. She really did an amazing job as a mentor and the little “check-ins” that I got throughout the semester is truly something to be appreciative of. The bonds forged between the mentor and the mentees throughout AY1 are truly extraordinary and I hope we continue to have this relationship.”
