The value of genetic affinity

Dr G Owen Schaefer, research fellow from the Centre for Biomedical Ethics at NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, discussed the ruling by Singapore’s Supreme Court on the case of an in-vitro fertilisation mix-up in 2010 at the Thomson Medical Centre. He opined that the case raises the question of whether there is really a value in genetic affinity, and that it remains to be seen whether other jurisdictions will recognise the value of genetic affinity.
