Remembering Emeritus Professor Lenny Tan Kheng Ann
Published: 26 Sep 2019
We are deeply saddened at the loss of a well-loved and respected colleague and friend. Emeritus Professor Lenny Tan Kheng Ann was a distinguished leader and an outstanding scholar and teacher. His numerous contributions included serving as Dean of the NUS Faculty of Medicine, the Chairman of the Medical Board of the National University Hospital and innumerable committees and boards. His legacy includes the Departments of Diagnostic Radiology and Imaging at NUS and NUH and the A*STAR-NUS Clinical Imaging Research Centre (CIRC).
A confident and capable leader, Prof Tan streered the CIRC through its critical early months as Acting Director. This paved the way for the Centre to blossom into the state-of-the-art facility that it is today. After stepping down as Director and handing the reins over to his successor, he continued to render assistance to enable the completion of a detailed layout of the facility and recruitment of the staff critical to the Centre’s mission.
The numerous awards he has to his name are testament to his achievements in academic, professional and public service fields. Among them, he is recognised as the second Asian to be awarded the prestigious Society of Interventional Radiology Gold Medal.
We will remember Prof Tan fondly as a visionary leader and wise mentor, an eminent radiologist and friend. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
