Graduates from the Class of 2023 at Medicine Dinner 2023
The annual Medicine Dinner was held on Monday, 3 July 2023, at the Shangri-La Hotel, a time-honoured tradition to commemorate the establishment of the first medical school in Singapore some 118 years ago. The dinner was also an opportunity to celebrate the outgoing Class of 2023, who would be graduating this coming Saturday and starting a new chapter as fully-fledged medical professionals.
Attended by 800 guests, the night kicked off with a sand art performance by professional sand artist and performer, Ms Stacey Lee, depicting the learning journey of a medical student. Both Professor Chong Yap Seng, Dean of the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS Medicine), and Guest-of-Honour, Mr Masagos Zulkifli, Minister for Social and Family Development and Second Minister for Health, delivered speeches to congratulate the Class of 2023, while reminding them of the mantle they now take up. As the night reached a celebratory high and dinner was served, the crowd was treated to a musical medley by the graduating cohort, who showed off their musical chops.
Guests mingled outside the Island ballroom, where they could bring home unique mementos such as a customised scent, photos and a personalised, typewritten poem. All in all, it was a night to remember and a treasured opportunity to catch up with old friends.
