Leadership appointment at Centre for Biomedical Ethics

We welcome Associate Professor Adeline Seow, who takes on the post of Acting Director of the Centre for Biomedical Ethics (CBmE) with effect from 1 April 2020.
Assoc Prof Seow graduated from NUS Medicine in 1988 and joined the University as a senior tutor in 1990, eventually specializing in public health and epidemiology. She is a faculty member at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, where her research focus has been on the environmental and genetic factors that lead to lung cancer in non-smoking women. She has also been involved in interdisciplinary research in the area of cancer screening and prevention, and in the teaching of epidemiology to graduate students and medical undergraduates. Between 2011 and 2019, she was founding Master of the College of Alice & Peter Tan (CAPT).
Since August 2019, Assoc Prof Seow has been on sabbatical leave to pursue collaborative research with CBmE in the area of public health ethics and professional values. She spent part of her sabbatical as a visiting researcher at the Kennedy Institute of Ethics in Georgetown University, Washington DC. Assoc Prof Seow also serves as co-chair of the population health domain of the National Healthcare Group (NHG) Domain-specific Review Board and holds a joint appointment at the NUS Office of Student Affairs as Vice-Dean of Students.
We also bid farewell to Prof Vikki Ann Entwistle and thank her for her leadership as Director of CBmE from 1 July 2018 to 31 March 2020.
