Over the last two decades, shifts in demographics, science, technology, healthcare costs and policies have had a major impact on healthcare landscape and is in constant state of reinvention. Singapore is one of the fastest ageing populations in the world and more than fifty percent of adult patients in acute care hospital beds are 65 or older. The continually evolving healthcare landscape has spurred many medical schools to close the widening gap between how students are traditionally trained and the future needs of the nation’s healthcare system.

Despite advances in technology and artificial intelligence, tomorrow’s doctors will still need to manage older adults especially those with physical and cognitive limitations in every specialty. The education of tomorrow’s doctors must also include how to deliver care in a complex healthcare system. This presentation will illustrate some of the school’s initiatives and ongoing research in this field.
