Speaker: Associate Professor Gavin Dawe, Department of Pharmacology, Deputy Director, Drug Discovery and Optimisation Programme, Medical Sciences Cluster, NUS Medicine & Director, Neuroscience Phenotyping Core, NUHS
Drug dscovery and development is complex, costly, and time-consuming but has delivered enormous impact on life expectancy and quality of life. This talk will provide an overview of the core activities involved in drug discovery and development from target selection, through lead identification and lead optimisation, to preclinical development, and clinical trials and drug approval processes. You will learn about the facilities available through the Drug Discovery and Optimisation Programme (DDOP) for lead identification and optimisation at NUS/NUHS. Case studies of drug discovery by university researchers and examples of progress in lead identification and optimisation at DDOP will be discussed.
Registration & breakfast at 7.10am, talk begins at 7.40am.
