Grading guidelines
The following criteria will be used to assess the performance of students participating in the UROP:
Criteria For Pass
- Total project time of a minimum of 16 weeks
- Oral presentation by student
- Submission of a project report to the satisfaction of the supervisor
Criteria For Merit
- Total project time of a minimum of 16 weeks
- Oral presentation by student
- Submission of a project report to the satisfaction of the supervisor
and
- One or more publications in refereed journals (acceptance email to be attached if not yet published)
or
- One or more presentations (oral or poster) at conferences (local or international) as first author (acceptance email or conference proceeding to be attached)
Criteria For Distinction
- Total project time of a minimum of 16 weeks
- Oral presentation by student
- Submission of a project report to the satisfaction of the supervisor
and
- One or more publications in refereed journals as first author (IF ≥ 10; acceptance email to be attached if not yet published)
or
- Two or more publications in refereed journals as first author (acceptance email to be attached if not yet published)
or
- Winner of one of the following Research Prize for Undergraduates:
– Outstanding Undergraduate Research Prize (OURP)
– Received an award at a reputable scientific meeting or conference
– Other undergraduate research awards will be considered on a case-by-case basis
All Research awards must be awarded prior to grading.
All supporting documents and certificates must be submitted before grading for consideration.
All students are required to provide valid and credible supplementary documents upon submission of the project report.
