About the Minor in Integrative Health (MIH)

The Minor in Integrative Health (MIH) aims to provide non-healthcare graduates with an immersive and experienctial learning experience in health and healthcare topics within an interdisciplinary context.

In this Minor, students not only gain an improved appreciation of the health and healthcare sector, but also are afforded the opportunity to integrate their discipline-specific expertise with their peers to create innovative interdisciplinary solutions to address the health challenges of tomorrow, and achieving thoughtful and equitable healthcare for all.

By the conclusion of the Minor, students should be able to:

  • Empathise, analyse and debate on complex health phenomena to better advocate for the needs of individuals with health issues
  • Critically evaluate current health evidence/knowledge to identify potential gaps in the health sector
  • Design, implement and manage effective health-promoting endeavours in a collaborative and interdisciplinary approach that will prepare them for future health and healthcare roles in any sector

Health Literacy & Education

Students will develop proficiency in evaluating health evidence, discussing determinants of health and disease management, and assessing health promotion efforts.

Health Innovation

Students will become skilled in applying interdisciplinary knowledge and analysing healthcare trends to develop thoughtful solutions for community challenges.

Students will acquire skills to design and execute health promotion initiatives, emphasising community engagement and improvement of health outcomes.
