Programme Highlights

Debriefing is an essential component in any simulation session where true learning is reinforced. It helps to align both the learner’s perception and the faculty’s expectations in ensuring that the learning objectives are met.

Organised by the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Centre for Healthcare Simulation, this one-day course provides both undergraduate and postgraduate faculty with additional skills to facilitate an effective debriefing session. Participants will be exposed to different debriefing techniques and strategies, and work in groups to discuss and role-play various debriefing situations, using both standardized patients and high-fidelity simulators.

They will also evaluate debriefing sessions, receive feedback on their debriefing techniques and reflect on areas where their debriefing can be made more effective. At the end of the course, participants should have a broader understanding on the theory and practice of effective debriefing in simulation.

Benefits of Attending

  • Understand concepts involved in effective debriefing
  • Explore the barriers to achieve debriefing objectives
  • Learn various debriefing models and techniques
  • Practice debriefing strategies, receive feedback as applied to team debriefing and debriefing the difficult learner
