Programme Highlights

The intention of a cadaveric course is to bridge the gap between theory and actual clinical practice.

Cardiothoracic residents are required to obtain knowledge on the management of cardiopulmonary bypass and cannulation techniques for open heart surgery. While theoretical knowledge is easily accessible from textbooks, lectures, or the internet, one of the only ways for OMS residents to apply their knowledge is in actual surgical practice. Given the need to ensure patient safety and efficiency in operating theatres, the exposure and learning opportunity is limited.

At end of this course, learners can expect to acquire the following skills:

  • Basic anatomy principles
  • Develop and improves knowledge and skills in dissection
  • Bridge basic anatomical understanding with clinical applications in the field of OMS
  • Build a strong foundation for safe surgical practice

Benefits of Attending

  • Rare opportunity to operate/dissect on various regions in a fresh cadaver
  • Gain hands-on experience with various kinds of techniques involved in cardiothoracic surgery
