Biography

A/Prof Lina is an immunologist with more than 20 years of experience in inflammatory diseases and models such as asthma, infection, and cancer. A major focus of her research is to understand the regulation of inflammation and immune responses, particularly the dysregulation caused by the protein Annexin-1, with respect to disease etiology, particularly tumourigenesis, and the tumour and innate immune response.

Her recent interests focus on the role of chronic stress (environmental and psychological) and stress hormones in breast cancer development and progression. She is now involved in three external projects with colleagues from nursing and psychological medicine, studying the impact of stress and interventions such as mindfulness, forest walking, and choral singing on disease and quality of life.
