Biography

Dr Aw is an Associate Professor in the Department of Paediatrics, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (YLL SoM), National University of Singapore and a Senior Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist in the Department of Paediatrics, National University Hospital (NUH). Her area of clinical expertise is in paediatric gastrointestinal disease, hepatology and liver transplantation. She is Head of the Paediatric Gastrointestinal and Liver service at NUHS, as well as the Clinical Lead for the Interdisciplinary Feeding and Nutrition Service.

Dr Aw is committed to teaching and training the next generation of doctors and paediatricians. Throughout her career, she has been involved in various education roles. These include being the first Chairperson of the School’s Standardized Patient program, Chairperson of the Admissions Committee and Assistant Dean (Education), Passionate about people development and interprofessional education, Dr Aw held the portfolio of the Education Director for NUH for 6 years, overseeing pre-employment training for doctors, nurses, allied health practitioners and pharmacists. She was also the Director for Post-graduate Education in the Department of Paediatrics, NUH, and the inaugural Program Director for the Paediatric Residency Program at NUHS. Dr Aw currently serves as the Vice Dean (Students) for the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, where her focus is on enabling student wellbeing and holistic development.

Dr Aw’s contributions to the healthcare profession include being the President of the College of Paediatrics and Child Health, as well as the Vice-President of the Singapore Paediatric Society.

Dr Aw’s leadership and education role also extend to the region. She is the Exco Chairperson of the Regional Paediatric Irritable Bowel Disease network and was the Chairperson of the Paediatric Gastroenterology Subcommittee of the Asian Pan-Pacific Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (APPSPGHAN). She currently serves as a  member on the APPSPGHAN Council.
