“Public Health and Preventive Medicine” is the very theme of this year’s East Asian Medical Students’ Conference, held on 20 to 24 January 2024, at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS Medicine), and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University (NTU LKCMedicine).
Graced by Mr Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Education and Minister-in-charge of Public Service, the conference opened its doors to 210 delegates hailing from diverse corners of the globe, offering an interesting line-up of both intellectual exchange and cultural fun, as well as a community service programme, to reinforce the importance of socio-economic issues in health.
Professor Tikki Pangestu, Visiting Professor at the Department of Medicine at NUS Medicine, and one of the three plenary speakers at the Conference, touched on the topic, “How Global is Global Health?”.
