Programme Highlights

There is often a disconnect between what we know and what we do in health care. In order to reduce this research-to-practice gap, experts in behavioural and implementation science have studied barriers, facilitators and provided tools to ensure evidence-based interventions can be effectively delivered and scaled. The aim of this live-online course is to provide an introduction to behavioural and implementation science, and provide leaders and managers within the healthcare system with strategies to improve uptake of interventions into routine practices, thereby increasing public health impact.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Understand why behavioural and implementation science is important to health and healthcare.
  2. Identify factors that hinder the translation of evidence to sustainable practice and system change.
  3. Be able to describe and apply at least one framework for designing a behavioural and implementation strategy and apply this to a real-world health challenge.
  4. Be able to describe at least one innovative evaluation design that examines implementation and outcomes.

This course is a collaboration between NUS Medicine Behavioural and Implementation Science Interventions (BISI) and Centre for Evidence and Implementation

Benefits of Attending

  • You will learn principles and selected frameworks of behavioural and implementation science, how to tailor strategies to enhance uptake of clinical innovations into routine practice, and to identify and overcome implementation barriers.
  • You will learn ways to evaluate the effectiveness of identified strategies so that apart from knowing ‘Does it work?’, you will also examine ‘How does it work? For whom does it work?’.
  • You will be equipped with the knowledge to:
    i) identify the specific behaviours you want to change and the outcome of this change ii) identify implementation barriers and facilitators iii) select and tailor implementation strategies iv) develop an implementation plan for intervention delivery which includes strategies for addressing barriers and promoting facilitators v) use an evaluation framework that examines implementation and outcomes vi) consider what is essential to make the intervention sustainable and scalable

Who Should Attend

  • All healthcare professionals and healthcare-related job roles
  • Researchers and research-related job roles
