The scientific programme of APCH 2017 focuses on developing clinical strategies to prevent new cases, besides treating established hypertensive patients across the highly urbanized multi-ethnic population of 5.4 million persons. It appears likely that some models developed for managing hypertension in this city-state will apply, in part, to larger communities in the fast-developing Asian Pacific region.

The congress will explore a number of clinically important and exciting issues emerging from research into the pathogenetic roles of sodium, and adrenal micro-adenomas. Care modelled on advanced nurse-practitioners and pharmacist-led systems feature in the seminars. Mobile phone-based apps to initiate and monitor antihypertensive treatment can exploit the interface between management guidelines and pragmatic solutions to feedback information to patients and their caring professionals.
