Emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, multi-drug resistant bacteria, dengue and pandemic influenza are global threats to public health. Communication between researchers with expertise in infectious agents, anti-infectives and host immune responses is key to successfully combat any infectious disease. Through joint symposia and collaborations, the National University of Singapore and Nagasaki University have maintained a long term scientific relationship that has benefited both sides. This year, the symposium titled “New Horizons in Infectious & Immunity Research” will provide a unique platform for researchers from across the world to share their current and cutting-edge findings on microbial pathogenesis, anti-microbial strategies, microbiome and host immunity.
