The Orthopaedic Biomechanics Laboratory supports:

  1. Biomechanical testing of small and large specimens with measurement instrumentation for e.g pressure, strain and displacement sensors
  2. Motion analysis during biomechanical testing
  3. Validation of a model be it artificial / biological / artificial-biological construct

Other tests carried out include, but not limited to:

  1. Strain measurement on humerus saw bone for validation of Finite Element Modelling (FEM) mode loading condition
  2. Biomechanical loading of metatarsal forefoot for Hallux Valgus deformities
  3. 3-point bending test of bone model
  4. Uniaxial plantar-to-dorsal cantilevel loading of the hallux
  5. Scaffold compression testing in a temperature controlled water bath
