The Orthopaedic Biomechanics Laboratory supports:

Biomechanical testing of small and large specimens with measurement instrumentation for e.g pressure, strain and displacement sensors
Motion analysis during biomechanical testing
Validation of a model be it artificial / biological / artificial-biological construct

Other tests carried out include, but not limited to:

Strain measurement on humerus saw bone for validation of Finite Element Modelling (FEM) mode loading condition
Biomechanical loading of metatarsal forefoot for Hallux Valgus deformities
3-point bending test of bone model
Uniaxial plantar-to-dorsal cantilevel loading of the hallux
Scaffold compression testing in a temperature controlled water bath
