Synaptic Plasticity & Memory Lab

Open Positions

We are always looking for new members interested to join our laboratory.

Post-Doctoral Position

Under the direction of A/Prof Sajikumar, there are many exciting projects investigating the memory processes in rodent hippocampus under different conditions and interventions. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who have received a doctoral degree within the past five years and with a strong background in neurophysiology/ cellular neurobiology to receive further training in Neuroscience.

Requirements:
1. Doctoral degree (PhD) in biological sciences
2. Experience on mouse models
3. Experience in field potential recordings/ patch-clamp
4. Able to work independently with precision and possess good organizational skills

Our lab is located on the Medical School campus of the National University of Singapore. There is close integration among the core laboratories of this University supported strategic initiative in neuroscience. This provides for an exciting environment to pursue neuroscience research and a great opportunity for Singaporeans, Asian expats wishing to return somewhere closer home, or anyone interested in experiencing the Asian culture, in one of the most developed and exciting countries in the region.

Interested individuals should send application including cover letter, curriculum vitae, and statement of research interests, and provide names of three references to A/Prof Sajikumar (email: phssks@nus.edu.sg).

Graduate Student Positions

We currently have an available position for a graduate student pursuing a doctoral degree (PhD).

The lab offers a brilliant opportunity for passionate individuals to jumpstart their scientific career in neuroscience.

Applications for graduate students is centrally managed by NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. In the meantime, interested and prospective graduate students can reach out to us.

Undergraduate Attachments and Internships

We are always open to accept NUS undergraduates for their UROPS and Honours/final year project. Furthermore, we frequently host interns from various universities across the world.

This opportunity is a great exposure to the field of neuroscience and the scientific career. By working with the field recording setups first-hand, our students will have a greater appreciation of the electrophysiological technique, which is an important tool for neuroscience investigation.

For interested undergraduates & prospective interns, please reach out to A/Prof Sajikumar, indicating the experience that they are applying for (UROPS, FYP, internship), its estimated duration and deliverables (report writing etc.).
