Candidature & Graduation Requirements


The minimum and maximum candidature period for the Master of Science (Speech and Language Pathology) degree is 2 years and 4 years respectively. Extension of candidature beyond 2 years will be charged per semester. The candidate's Grade Point Average (GPA) should not fall below 2.5 for two consecutive semesters or 3.0 for three consecutive semesters. A candidate who fails to maintain a minimum GPA as stipulated will have his/her candidature terminated. For any semester in which the candidate's GPA falls below 3.0, he/she will be issued a warning. If, in the following semester, the candidate's GPA again falls below 3.0, but above 2.5, he/she will be placed on probation.

To graduate with the degree of Master of Science (Speech and Language Pathology), a candidate must take and pass all the 18 courses, but may read more than the minimum number of units. Candidates must also obtain a minimum GPA of 3.0 for the degree requirement. The grades of all 18 courses will be considered in assessing whether the student has met the degree requirement. There are no marks of distinction for the Master degree.
