Master of Medicine Programmes
The Master of Medicine programmes are usually read by doctors who are undergoing Residency Training (or specialist training) after they have completed their MBBS. There are 12 specialty programmes in total and they mainly consist of multi-part, multi-format examinations that doctors must pass in order to progress to the next level of Residency Training. In order to familiarize doctors with the exam requirements and formats, as well as those who require a refresher, examination preparatory courses are offered for selected specialties. Doctors working in Singapore or foreign countries are welcome to apply for these examinations and courses administered by DGMS.
Graduate Diploma Programmes
Graduate Diploma programmes administered by DGMS are aimed at empowering doctors to equip themselves with specialised knowledge and skills. Although targeted at doctors practising in primary care settings including General Practitioners, there is rising interest among non-Family Medicine Residents to read the Graduate Diploma programmes in recent years. We are heartened to see this because a more confident medical professional will be able to provide a wider scope and better quality of care, reduce referrals to hospitals, and keep healthcare costs affordable. These also dovetail nicely with the “3 Beyonds”.
