PGRN-EGFR Crosstalk Modulates ADAR1-Mediated Liver Immunity

In this study, led by A/Prof Polly Chen, multi-omics approaches revealed that MDA5 loss in ADAR1-deficient livers does not reduce inflammation and dysfunction. Hepatocyte-macrophage interaction via the PGRN-EGFR axis controls responses to endogenous duplex RNAs, with PGRN driving interferon responses and macrophage recruitment. ADAR1 suppresses PGRN-EGFR signalling, helping tumours evade the immune system.
