director's foreword n2cr
Welcome to the NUS Centre for Cancer Research (N2CR) website!
The N2CR was established in 2020 as one of ten new Translational Research Programmes (TRPs) in the National University of Singapore’s Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. We are the largest of these Programmes, with over 100 faculty members spanning the basic, translational and clinical sciences.
Professor Ashok Venkitaraman
Director, NUS Centre for Cancer Research
Director, Cancer Science Institute of Singapore
Distinguished Professor of Medicine, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS
OUR VISION AND MISSION
of the N2CR is simple
To develop innovative new ways to detect, cure or prevent cancer.
The hallmark of
The Programme
Research Team Of
Tissue-Specific Carcinogenesis
Tissue Specific Carcinogenesis (TSC) focuses on unraveling molecular mechanisms of tissue specific carcinogenesis driving therapy resistance in cancer. The ultimate goal of this Theme is to build an infrastructure and research network that improves how cancer patients are diagnosed, treated and understanding the mechanisms behind therapy resistance in cancer, to identify potential biomarkers of drug resistance/ sensitivity and to identify new targets and treatment modalities to overcome therapy resistance.

A/Prof TAN Shao Peng, David
Theme Lead
Research Team Of
Precision Cancer Medicine
Precision Cancer Medicine (PCM) aims to make diagnosis of cancer simpler and more accurate and ultimately improve treatment. The PCM theme aims to focus research that will identify effective biomarkers, develop new treatment modalities for precision and personalized cancer therapy and create enabling technologies for accurate clinical diagnosis and treatment of specific cancer subtypes and individual cancer patients.

A/Prof CHOW Kai-Hua, Edward
Theme Lead
Research focus is on how to quickly and accurately identify effective cancer therapeutic options for individual cancer patients as well as specific sub-groups of cancer patients in both blood cancers and solid tumours.

Research Team Of
Early Cancer Intervention
Early Cancer Intervention (ECI) focuses on understanding how cell autonomous and non-cell autonomous changes contribute to cancer initiation and relapse post-treatment with the goal of developing innovative approaches to delay, prevent or treat cancer at its earliest stages.
