Graduate Students’ Welcome Day,19 September 2023
In the advent of the new semester, we hosted a Welcome Lunch for the incoming Graduate students in NUS Department of Physiology. We prepared exciting games (Murderer and Citizen, Draw & Guess) for the newly enrolled Year 1 Graduate students to get acquainted with each other.
12th Models of Physiology and Diseases Symposium, 28-29 September 2023
The Physiology Graduate Students’ Society (PGSS) Committee played an active role at the 12th Models of Physiology and Disease Symposium organized by NUS Physiology. This event featured esteemed international and local scientists who presented cutting-edge research in physiology, with topics spanning from cancer, neurobiology, immunology, to systems biology. The PGSS committee gained many insights as volunteers.

The Physiology Graduate Students’ Society (PGSS) is dedicated to organizing activities that foster networking, bonding, and support among graduate students. Through various initiatives, the society creates opportunities for students to connect with one another, build relationships, and form a strong support system. By encouraging networking and bonding, PGSS aims to enhance the overall graduate student experience and provide a platform for personal and professional growth. Recognizing the challenges and unique demands of PhD studies, PGSS strives to create a supportive environment where students can find encouragement, advice, and mentorship from their peers.
Physiology Pitch Perfect 2023
Pitch Perfect 2023 is happening this Friday on the 12th May from 10am to 4pm a MD 9 Workshop Room!
You can look forward to hearing exciting presentations from our Final Year graduates, who have been tasked to pitch their projects in just 3 minutes! The SLW Grant awardees will also be sharing their novel proposals in 3 minutes. There will be a 2-minute Q&A after each presentation. The top presenters will walk away with amazing vouchers!
In addition, Pitch Perfect 2023 will be held in conjunction with the Physiology Emotional Health Seminar by Dr Kinjal Doshi. Her talk will be on Resilience and Grit in the pursuit of Excellence, a critical trait that scientists require. This session will be held in a hybrid format – physically at MD9 Workshop Room and virtually on Zoom.
As an attendee, you will also have a chance at winning Starbucks vouchers during the intermission Science Kahoot quiz, which will tickle your brains!

Rules for Pitch Perfect 2020
PHYSIOLOGY SCIENCE PITCH DAY IS COMING TO YOU IN A DIFFERENT FORM!
The Physiology Graduate Student Society (PGSS) is delighted to announce that Physiology Pitch Perfect is back again, this time online! This is a good platform for graduate students to pitch the significance of their research findings to audiences of various backgrounds and to hone their presentation skills. All 4th year graduate students will be challenged to present their PhD thesis work with just 1 slide in under 3 minutes. We received overwhelming response last year and hope to have more participants to join us from the comfort of their home this year.
In addition, SLW grant winners would be required to present their novel research ideas in 3 minutes with no restriction on slides. The best three presentations would walk away with cash prizes
PGSS cordially invites all the members of the department to attend this event and together we will make it a success.

Participation is COMPULSORY for all 4th year graduate students Attendance is mandatory for all physiology graduate students. Please find the poster and rules for the Pitch Perfect presentation in the attachment.
Format: 3 minutes presentation + 2 minutes Q&A
Awards for Pitch Perfect: 1st ($300 vouchers), 2nd ($200 vouchers), 3rd ($100 vouchers), people’s choice ($100 vouchers), all presenters ($10 voucher)
Awards for SLW grant top 3 presenter: $100 vouchers each
