Associate Professor Chantelle Rizan PhD MRCS(ENT)
A/Prof. Chantelle Rizan is an Associate Professor at the Centre for Sustainable Medicine, National University of Singapore, leading research focusing on Net Zero Clinical Transformation and the circular economy of healthcare products. She is a medical doctor by background and went on to undertake a PhD evaluating strategies to mitigate the carbon footprint of products in the operating theatre, following which she became a Clinical Lecturer in Sustainable Healthcare at Brighton and Sussex Medical School (2022).
A/Prof. Rizan strives to translate her research into practice and policy through an evidence-based approach, for example as Academic Chair and lead editor for a national report on decarbonizing surgery in collaboration with the UK Health and Climate Change Alliance, and leading a policy report for NHS England evaluating ways to integrate environmental impact into healthcare procurement decision. She delivers undergraduate and postgraduate education, alongside doctoral supervision, on topics relating to sustainable healthcare.
A/Prof. Rizan received the Hillary International Health and Care Leadership Award in 2022 and the Adam Weiler Doctoral Impact Award in 2021 for outstanding academic impact.
