CHAIRMAN'S MESSAGE

Following the overwhelming success of the 1st and 2nd APMEC which attracted more than 300 participants each from the region and countries in Africa and the Middle East, the Medical Education Unit will be organising and hosting the 3rd APMEC from Feb 18-21, 2006.

A report on the 1st APMEC was published in the inaugural issue of The Clinical Teacher in 2004 [1st APMEC-Success Story] and a report on the 2nd APMEC has again been accepted for publication in the same journal [Getting Assessment TIPS in Singapore]. Several papers presented at the 2nd APMEC have been edited and will be published in a special issue of Annals of Academy of Medicine, Singapore in September 2005.

The theme for the 3rd APMEC is Curriculum TIPS - Trends, Innovations, Priorities, Strategies. Several renowned medical educators have already accepted our invitation to speak and run workshops at the conference.
1. Professors John Norcini (President and CEO, Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research),
2. LuAnn Wilkerson (Senior Associate Dean, David Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA),
3. David Prideaux (Flinders University School of Medicine),
4. Kelley Skeff (Professor of Medicine and Director of the Department of Medicine Training Programme, Stanford University)
5. M. Brownell Anderson (Senior Associate Vice President, The Association of American Medical Colleges).

With warm regards,
