Tenzin is an Associate Professor at the Center for Biomedical Ethics (CBmE), Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS. Before her appointment at CBmE, she was a professor, senior researcher and PhD Program Coordinator at the Institute for Biomedical Ethics, University of Basel. She received her habilitation (Privatdozent) in biomedical ethics from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Basel (Switzerland), her doctoral degree (PhD) in gerontology from the University of Kentucky (USA), and her liberal arts bachelor’s degree in biology from Berea College in Kentucky (USA). Her core research interests in biomedical ethics are at the nexus of aging, caregiving, and technology. Her works are interdisciplinary in nature and employs empirical research. Her past contributions are in the topics of access to healthcare, health and rights of older persons in prisons, elder care provision using smart technologies, and ethics of family building. She has published more than 150 peer-reviewed manuscripts in the field of bioethics, medicine, and gerontology. She is the president of the International Association of Bioethics (IAB).
