Lee Soo Hoon is Professor in Management at the Strome College of Business at Old Dominion University. She is an Affiliate Faculty at the Armstrong Institute of Patient Safety and Quality at Johns Hopkins Medicine and a Professor (by Courtesy) at the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School. She was a Visiting Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and an Academic Visitor at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health and the School of Engineering at the National University of Singapore.

She earned her Ph.D. from the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington. Her domain expertise is Human Resources Management. She applies her domain expertise to health services research and patient safety culture. Her research focuses on managing: (1) teams in the operating theatre, (2) patient handoffs and transitions of care, and (3) compliance behaviors of healthcare professionals and patients in transitions of care protocols.

She publishes in the Journal of Hospital Medicine, Journal of Patient Safety, Anesthesia & Analgesia, BMJ Open, BMC Health Services Research, Nursing Outlook, the International Journal for Quality in Health Care, BMC Medical Education, among others. Her research has helped shape both policy and practice at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Assoc Prof Low is currently a Senior Consultant at the Department of Family Medicine and Continuing Care at the Singapore General Hospital, and Chairman, Division of Population Health and Integrated Care in SGH, and Director, SingHealth Centre for Population Health Research and Implementation. He is also faculty at Duke-NUS Medical School, Singapore University of Technology and Design, and Singapore University of Social Sciences. 

As Chairman, Population Health and Integrated Care in SGH, A/Prof Low has spearheaded innovative models of care such as community nursing, hospital at home and integrated senior health and wellness hubs. He also has a deep interest in health services research, especially in the areas of population health, innovative integrated care delivery models, value-based care and data analytics. He is currently the Chair of the SingHealth Duke-NUS Population Health Research executive committee. A/Prof Low is also the principal investigator of the Community Ageing in Place Ecosystem project funded by the Ministry of Health Singapore, that integrates the physical built environment, technology and health-social care integration for ageing well in Singapore. A/Prof Low is supervising PhD students, data analysts, research fellows and associates in their professional work. Concurrently, he is mentoring third year Duke-NUS medical students, family medicine residents and fellows for their research projects. 

To date, A/Prof Low had secured close to $16M SGD in competitive research funding as PI or Co-PI from grant agencies such as the National Medical Research Council Singapore, Artificial Intelligence Singapore, Novartis Foundation, National Health Innovation Centre Singapore and the Ministry of Health Singapore. He has a h-index of 37 as of March 2025. He was awarded the Ministry of Health HPSR Clinician Scientist Award (HCSA) in 2022.

Phil’s academic and professional work focuses on innovations in health services research with a focus on transitions of care. He has published more than 250 peer reviewed research papers and is author/editor of 13 scholarly books. He is Deputy Editor of the International Journal for Quality in Health Care, Academic Editor of Medicine®, and Associate Editor of the Journal of Technology Transfer.  He reviews for the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, National Institutes of Health, and the National Science Foundation.

He is Core Director for the NIA-funded Johns Hopkins Artificial Intelligence Collaboratory for Aging Research, and Principal Investigator of the Johns Hopkins Innovation for Substance Use Disorder (I4SUD) program, a NIDA-funded national training program for researchers. Recently, he co-organized with the FDA the Future of AI Medical Devices Regulation Symposium in Washington D.C. He is co-founder of P4Microbiome Inc., a peptide-based biotech startup.

Dr Shefaly Shorey is an Associate Professor with tenure and Vice Dean (Administration) at the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, and Director of the Yeo Boon Khim Mind Science Centre at the National University of Singapore. Her research programme advances maternal, paternal, and family health through the development, rigorous evaluation, and implementation of psychosocial, behavioural, and digital health interventions. With over 280 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals, she is internationally recognised for her contributions to perinatal mental health, parenting science, and translational implementation research.

A/Prof Shorey represents Singapore as Chair of the Southeast and East Asian Nursing Education and Research Network (SEANERN) and serves on the Global Working Group on Salutogenesis. Her research has been widely featured in national media and has informed clinical protocols, public health programmes, and national policy initiatives in family and mental health.

An award-winning educator and committed mentor, she champions lifelong learning and adopts a student-centred, evidence-based approach to teaching and supervision. She has mentored more than 90 research students and emerging scholars, many of whom now contribute to academia, healthcare systems, and policy sectors.

Her distinguished achievements include consistent recognition among Stanford University’s Top 2% Most-Cited Scientists globally since 2021, Singapore’s President’s Nurse Award (2021), the United States–Association of Southeast Asian Nations Fulbright Scholarship (2022), and the National Medical Research Council Senior Clinician Scientist Award (2023), acknowledging her leadership in bridging research, clinical practice, and health policy.

Prof Tai E Shyong, MD underwent medical training at the University of Dundee in the United Kingdom. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in the United Kingdom and a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine in Singapore (Endocrinology). Prof Tai is currently a Professor in the Department of Medicine at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health and Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School. Prof Tai has also served on the committees that write the clinical practice guidelines for the Ministry of Health in the areas lipids and diabetes mellitus.

Prof Tai has a longstanding interest in the development of novel treatments for chronic diseases that leverages on human genetics for the identification of specific drug targets. Through his appointment with PRECISE, the National Precision Medicine programme, he is involved in initiating the national implementation of clinical workflows that integrate genetic information into care plans.

He has also been involved in several studies to incorporate behavioural change techniques to improve outcomes in patients living with chronic disease or who are at risk of heart disease or diabetes. These personalised programmes and digital platforms are developed to tap on to intrinsic motivation by promoting self-reflection to facilitate sustainable lifestyle change.

Dr Tippi Mak

Dr Tippi Mak is head of the new Vaccine Research Unit at the Centre for Behavioural and Implementation Science Interventions (VRU@BISI) at NUS, with interests including vaccine acceptance, safety, policy and communication.

She is a Canadian family physician with over 25 years in vaccine development, policy, regulation, programmes, evaluation, pharmacovigilance, in low- to high-income settings, and across government, industry, academic, and community sectors. She has served on various committees and boards.

She was a clinician for five years, including rural Canada, military bases, and at district hospital with ViVa, an NGO in Vanuatu. For four years, she supported WHO at country level offices and WPRO, to strengthen communicable disease control (EPI campaigns, outbreak response, surveillance), and conducted field epidemiological studies for a Swiss helminth research project in rural Lao PDR. She has served as a regular consultant, advisor and trainer for WHO HQ and its committees e.g. GACVS, SAGE for many years. During the 2009 H1N1 influenza pandemic, she spent three years as a vaccine regulator at Swissmedic, and chaired the National Vaccine Safety committee for EKIF (Swiss ACIP) and HMEC (Swiss CBER). In Singapore, Dr Mak has served at the Health Promotion Board as Senior Deputy Director, as Sanofi’s Regional Director in public policy and J&J Regional Senior Director during the COVD-19 pandemic.

Dr Aishworiya Ramkumar is a developmental behavioural paediatrician by training and practices at the Child Development Unit, National University Hospital, Singapore. Dr Ramkumar’s clinical interests include autism spectrum disorder and socio-emotional difficulties in children and she is committed to serving this group of children through direct clinical care and research that translates into clinical care pathway improvements.

Her research interests are anchored around the over-arching vision of improving outcomes of children on the autism spectrum in Singapore and beyond. Specific themes including implementation of screening for autism in early childhood and design of sustainable interventions for autism in young children. She has received competitive research funding and published her work in several peer-reviewed journals. She is also the current co-chair of the workgroup that produced the Clinical Practice Guidelines for Autism in Children and Adolescents in Singapore.

Dr Amanda Zain

Dr Amanda Zain is the Deputy Director at the Centre for Sustainable Medicine and Assistant Dean of Sustainability at NUS Medicine. A paediatric consultant at the National University Hospital (NUH), Singapore, Amanda obtained her MBBS and Master of Medicine (Paediatrics) at NUS and completed her paediatrics training at NUH. She is also a clinical tutor for medical and dental undergraduate and postgraduate students at NUS Medicine.

Dr Amanda previously served as Chief Resident of the Paediatric Residency Programme, and is an alumnus of the NUH Residency Leadership Development Programme. As a paediatric consultant and mother of two, her call to action was when she learned that 88% of the burden of climate change falls on children. She has since actively engaged in clinical sustainability projects and advanced the community of practice in sustainable healthcare among clinicians across Singapore. Her research interest is in the implementation science of sustainable inhaler prescribing.

Dr Ellie is practicing dermatologist at the National University Hospital in Singapore and holds a junior faculty position at the National University of Singapore School of Medicine. Her research expertise lies in health services and behavioral medicine, with a specific focus on unraveling the inefficiencies and discordance that may exist between patients and physicians in the management and treatment of diseases.

She is currently enrolled in a part-time diploma program in psychodermatology and is concurrently pursuing a Masters of Business Administration with John Hopkins University. She is also embarking on a PhD program with NUS, where her thesis “Development and Pilot Implementation of an Electronic Patient Reported Outcome Measure (ePROM) system to Guide Clinical Decision Making and Improve Efficiency of Consult” is centered around PROMs and patient reported outcomes.

Ellie's commitment to advancing the field of dermatology extends to her editorial roles, where she serves as the senior assistant editor for the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology (JAAD) and section editor for International Journal of dermatology. She is also active in the country’s social and healthcare community as an executive committee member of the Society of Behavioural Health Singapore (SBHS) and as part of the governing council of the International Society of Behavioral Medicine.

Prof Ng Chirk Jenn is a Senior Consultant at SingHealth Polyclinics and a Clinical Professor at Duke-NUS, Singapore. His research expertise is in the field of digital health, shared decision making and implementation science. He uses qualitative, quantitative and mixed-methods approaches to develop, evaluate and implement healthcare interventions in primary care.
