Nick read psychology at the Panteion University of Athens (Greece), and obtained a MSc in Organisational & Economic Psychology from the same university, before completing a PhD in behavioural decision science in 2004 (UCL, UK). In addition to his Visiting Professor role within the NUS Behavioural and Implementation Sciences Institute, Nick is a Professor of Implementation Science and Patient Safety and Director of the Centre for Implementation Science at King’s College London, UK (2015 – Present) and has held academic appointments in the Department of Surgery and Cancer at Imperial College London, UK (2004 – 2015).

Nick’s research vision is to achieve population health and high-quality healthcare delivery through application of psychological and behavioural sciences, and partnership development between stakeholders in academia, health services, charitable organisations and industry. Nick’s research is situated within the multidisciplinary space of implementation science, improvement science, and applied psychology.

Nick’s research has been disseminated in over 370 publications and over 120 invited lectures worldwide and has won over numerous awards. Nick serves on the WHO BEsD group (Measuring Behavioural and Social Drivers of Vaccination, 2018 – Present), on the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain & Ireland and Difficult Airway Society Human Factors and Ergonomics joint Guideline Development Group (2017 – Present), and as an expert advisor to the UK’s Safe Anaesthesia Liaison Group (2011 – Present). Nick has previously served on the Board of Directors of the US-based Association for Surgical Education (2013 – 2016), was the Founding Editor-in-Chief of BMJ Simulation & Technology Enhanced Learning (2014 – 2019) and an Associate Editor of Implementation Science (2012 – 2021) peer-reviewed journals.

Robyn Mildon, PhD, is an internationally recognised figure in the field of implementation science, evidence synthesis and knowledge translation, and program and policy evaluations in health, education and human services. She is the Founding Executive Director of the Centre for Evidence and Implementation (CEI www.ceiglobal.org ), a global social purpose organisation whose work now spans across 7 countries including Singapore. She is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Monash University, a Visiting Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, Co-Director of the recently established Behavioural and Implementation Science Interventions (BISI), National University of Singapore.

Over her career, Robyn’s work has helped to advance the implementation of better evidence in policy and practice settings, improving the quality and effectiveness of health, education and human services. She has been a keynote speaker at multiple events around the globe and designed and led a number of workshops to train students, policy makers and practitioners in implementation science and evaluation methods. Robyn has authored or co-authored multiple peer-reviewed publications, commissioned evidence synthesis reviews and book chapters. She also led the design and delivery of the Specialist Certificate in Implementation Science at the University of Melbourne and is a Co-Author of an edited book Implementation Science 3.0 (Springer, 2020).

Prof Giuseppe Alessandro Veltri

Giuseppe Alessandro Veltri holds an MSc in Social Research Methods (Statistics) from the Methodology Department of the London School of Economics (LSE) and a PhD in Social Psychology from the LSE. After his PhD, he has been a research associate at the Institut Jean Nicod (Ecole Normale Supérieure) in Paris. He worked for the European Commission JRC between 2009-2011. Most recently, he has been a full professor of computational social science and behavioural data science at the Department of Sociology and Social Research at the University of Trento. His main interests are the crossover of behavioural and computational social science, particularly in innovative research methods.

Prof Ivo Vlaev

Ivo is a Professor of Behavioural Science at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. Ivo received a PhD in Experimental Psychology from the University of Oxford. Ivo also worked as a research fellow at University College London, a senior lecturer at Imperial College London, and a professor at Warwick Business School, University of Warwick. He has a track record of research in decision science and behaviour change, which is published in academic journals, book chapters and government reports. Ivo’s research focuses on developing an integrated theory of behaviour change which combines principles from psychology, neuroscience, and economics. Testing the theory involves developing and evaluating behaviour change interventions in various domains such as health, finance, education, and environment. Ivo is a co-author of the famous UK Cabinet Office MINDSPACE report, which provides a framework for designing effective policy utilising behavioural sciences (it provided the basis for establishing the first ‘Behaviour Insight Team’ in government). Ivo has helped public and private organisations apply lessons from behavioural science.

Dr Jocelyn Chew

Dr Chew completed her PhD at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and is the youngest nursing PhD holder in Singapore. She is passionate about population health, digital health, and healthcare innovation, having received training in nutrition science, artificial intelligence, and advanced statistics. She is also the first nurse to receive training in the Stanford Biodesign methodology as a Singapore Biodesign Innovation Fellow FY23/24, which included training in regional and global centers such as Beijing and the United States.
Dr Chew’s research focuses on using innovative strategies to promote health behavior change, specifically for cardiometabolic diseases and the upstream problem of obesity. She has developed multiple self-regulation programs including an artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted behavioral prediction and prevention system for personalized weight management. She is a recipient of the National Medical Research Council (NMRC) talent award and has been awarded the NMRC PHRG-NIG to support her research in obesity prevention and management.

Dr Chew has published over 60 internationally peer-reviewed articles of high impact factor and has been awarded more than SDG750,000 worth of research funding. She has presented her research in various conferences globally and has received multiple international awards over the years. Dr Chew also serves as an editor for Scientific Reports and Frontiers in Nutrition, and sits in the Department Ethics Review Committee.

As an educator, Dr Chew teaches research methods both at the undergraduate and PhD levels, emphasizing the importance of innovation. She is also a member of the Singapore Nurses Association Education Committee.

Eugene is a behavioural scientist with a passion for research that protects and/or enhances the welfare of individuals in organisations and in society. His primary research interests include organizational behaviour (e.g., incivility, bystander intervention), health services research (e.g., person-centered care), and decision making (e.g., shared decision making). He employs laboratory and online experiments, conducts observational field studies, and develops surveys for investigating phenomena of interest, generating insights to inform theory and practice.

Before joining BISI, Eugene was the Research Manager at NUS Care Unit and has experience with running campus climate surveys, grant management, mentoring early-career researchers, formulating policy and practical recommendations, and developing behaviour change interventions. Eugene has worked with healthcare practitioners on topics ranging from shared decision making to disruptive behaviour. He also has prior experience working with the Behavioural Insights Team in HMRC and with the UK Consumer Rights Association.

With clinical experience spanning various sectors, Celeste has provided psychological therapies to people of all ages in the U.K. and Singapore. Additionally, she has shared her expertise with organisations, guiding them in leveraging psychological insights, behavioural sciences and evidence-based strategies to address complex societal issues such as sexism, gender-based violence, vaccination uptake, and fostering healthier work cultures.

Jumana is a behavioural scientist passionate about improving public health outcomes through innovative approaches. Her research interests include population health, chronic disease prevention, and program design and evaluation. By leveraging design thinking methodologies and public and patient involvement, she aims to implement evidence-based interventions that are not only sustainably effective but also culturally sensitive and inclusive.

Previously, she has been involved in pushing forward agendas like HIV prevention, curbing e-cigarette uptake among adolescents, and community-based approaches for chronic disease management in global health settings. She has also applied behavioural science in adopting digital health for smoking cessation, health promotion and mental wellbeing. During her doctoral research, she focused on ways to tap into intrinsic motivation for type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease prevention through risk communication and e-counselling platforms.

Dr. Vashishtha is a seasoned implementation scientist and mixed-method researcher with a specialization in quantitative methodologies, including clinical and economic evaluations. Their expertise lies in the design, execution, and analysis of complex interventions that improve health outcomes. Her current research focuses on innovative digital interventions for weight management, utilizing technology to address key public health challenges related to obesity and lifestyle diseases.

In previous roles, she has been deeply involved in health services research, targeting lifestyle factors to reduce the burden of chronic diseases, particularly in aging populations. By designing interventions tailored to the needs of older adults, she has contributed significantly to research efforts aimed at improving quality of life and promoting healthier aging, in Singapore context.

Dr. Vashishtha brings a wealth of experience in translating evidence into practice, ensuring that research findings are effectively embedded in healthcare settings. Their implementation research efforts emphasize the adoption of digital health solutions such as eHealth, mHealth, and healthcare-related AI, aiming to streamline care pathways and increase the accessibility of healthcare for diverse populations. She is also adept at working across both clinical and community-based settings, ensuring that interventions reach populations most in need.

Passionate about health equity, she is committed to projects that equitable access of high-quality healthcare for all individuals. Her work bridges the gap between research and practice, fostering innovations that transform healthcare delivery.

Yusuf is trained in sociology (qualitative research), anthropology, and legal research. He has been involved in research on education and healthcare services over the past decade. His expertise lies in conducting in-depth interviews, observation, and case study research.

He is interested in how healthcare policies and programmes are implemented and experienced within diverse community and institutional settings. His research focuses on the sociological dimensions of health policy implementation, particularly how frontline professionals, patients, and systems interact in the delivery of care.

His goal is to contribute to more context-sensitive and equitable healthcare systems through rigorous evaluation of how policies and programmes unfold in real-world settings. He also seeks to inform the design of more effective and inclusive implementation strategies within Singapore’s multicultural society.

In his previous experience, Yusuf has also worked as a regulator and policymaker in the Singapore government service.

Conor Luck is a dedicated and compassionate professional with a background in science and humanitarian service. He graduated from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Washington, DC, in 2023, majoring in Science, Technology, and International Affairs with a minor in Environmental Studies. In 2024, he completed a pre-medical post-baccalaureate certificate at Georgetown.

During his undergraduate studies, Conor worked as a research assistant in behavioural science at the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, contributing to several research projects. He has a passion for service and charity, having volunteered as a medical assistant at the Catholic Charities Medical Center for five years. Most recently, he completed an internship as an international programmes associate for the disaster relief NGO, Mercy Relief.

Conor aims to combine his interests in research and service to pursue a career focused on compassionate, equitable, and evidence-based care. Outside of his professional pursuits, Conor enjoys music, art, and outdoor activities like rock climbing, hiking and sports.

Lee Jing Yi

Jing Yi is a psychologist-in-training, currently pursuing Master of Psychology (Forensic). Under her clinical training, she has experience in providing psychotherapies and case management services to recovering drug addicts, and psychological first aid to victims of crime. Prior to her postgraduate studies, she worked as a mixed methods analyst in health services research, specialising in programme evaluation. Some of her research interests include palliative care, caregiver burden, and stress coping. Jing Yi was also previously involved in behavioural sciences research on cyber social movements, terrorism, and scam crimes.
