Digital Medicine

NUS Digital Medicine TRP

Digital Medicine and AI will create vitally needed solutions that can be rapidly deployed due to the core expertise possessed by WisDM. The WisDM programme will further push the envelope to impact an even broader spectrum of clinical challenges that will ultimately transform global healthcare and implementation.

In collaboration with the broader NUS community, WisDM is able to achieve scalable patient impact with pillars represented by five key themes which will catalyse the impact that WisDM will make on the global healthcare community. The themes are:

  1. WisDM.CTI (Clinical Trials Innovation) – establish a Digital Medicine Domain Specific Review Board (DSRB) for rapid, rigorous, and informed establishment of first-in-class trials, which will be among the first of its kind in the world and will also be a major catalyst for game-changing studies that attract industry-sponsored digital medicine studies.
  2. WisDM. N.1Tx (Therapeutics/ Interventional) – obtain HSA device classifications for novel interventional AI technologies, with pioneering regulatory oversight of interventional AI platforms conducted at NUS Medicine.
  3. WisDM. N.1Dx (Diagnotics/ Wearables) – achieve scalable/ population-wide N.1Dx where the deployment of diagnostics for a broad distribution of non-serious illnesses can be explored in collaboration with industry partners, which would greatly enhance patient compliance for a plethora of health conditions, and may likely reduce the national/ global cost of care.
  4. WisDM.Data (Data Infrastructure) – the team is currently developing a small-footprint device, named Medical Digital Intermediary (MEDDi) that can serve as a point-of care, AI-enhanced device to address hypertension, diabetes and hypercholesterolemia, which collectively represent the major disease burdens in Singapore and globally. MEDDi will be capable of direct communication with the WisDM.Data Infrastructure, video monitoring for patient analysis and compliance confirmation, as well as Edge computing/ 5G communications.
  5. WisDM.Enable – the Enable team will drive front and backend development of HIVE (Healthcare Innovation Visualisation Environment) as well as strategies to train and sustain user engagement with industry-partnered point-of-care devices. The team will also drive all healthcare economics assessments of N.1Tx/ N.1Dx trials to ensure that WisDM technologies and HIVE/ healthcare operations optimisation programmes are geared towards adding value to the healthcare community, ensuring that the platforms are sustainable.
