NUS Infectious Diseases TRP
The ID programme aims to provide a holistic, patient-centric approach to infectious diseases that are relevant to Singapore and the Region.
The ID programme at a glance
The programme will focus on five areas of development:
- Programmatic research – a variety of research expertise and research areas that can be grouped into three broad themes: (i) Pathogen Evolution & Transmission, (ii) Host-Microbe Interactions and (iii) Vaccine & Therapeutics.
- Capacity building – part of the funding will be allocated to strengthen and increase capabilities which include acquiring new technologies and expertise that will benefit the entire programme in a sustainable manner.
- Networking – resources will be devoted to develop the programme’s network locally, regionally and internationally, and also to support networking events to strengthen the ties amongst the programme members to build a community with a sense of belonging.
- Core research activities/ services – four core research activities have been identified to be important resources for impactful translational research: (i) small animal models of ID, (ii) high throughput screening platform, (iii) organoids/ ex vivo models of ID and (iv) strains collection.
- Ad-hoc support – limited and short-term funding will be set aside to support PIs on a case-by-case basis.
