N2CR’s Research Director, A/Prof Too Heng-Phon was awarded the President’s Technology Award by President Halimah Yacob on 10 December 2021. This award is conferred on scientists and engineers whose research excellence has made significant contributions to the field of science and technology in Singapore.
A/Prof Too was honoured for his decade-long research in developing an accurate and versatile method to detect microRNA (miRNA) biomarkers, leading to the clinical implementation of blood tests for early detection of diseases such as cancer. A game changer in early cancer detection, these tests will ensure that patients have a better chance at recovery and most importantly, survival.
