Dr. John A Dent

2015 Medical Education Guest Lecture: Dr. John A Dent

4 – 5, 9 March 2015

MMEd MD FHEA FRCS (Ed)

AMEE International Relations Officer

Hon Reader in Medical Education & Orthopaedic Surgery

University of Dundee

United Kingdom

Dr John Dent from AMEE, Dundee, will be highlighting three topics in medical education; one 40 years old, one in current debate and one looking to the future.

The SPICES model of education strategies (Harden et al 1984) still has interesting applications for current curricular design.

Outcome–based education remains very much on the agenda as medical schools and departments seek how best to implement its approaches.

The third, perhaps looking more to the future, addresses the question, “Can we teach our medical students outside the traditional teaching hospital?”
