"Life Lessons in Developing a Successful Department"

 

Synopsis:


The Rothman Institute was formed in the 1970 by the renowned Dr. Richard H. Rothman. It is a private orthopedic group practice with strong academic affiliation including academic/teaching affiliations with the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. It has grown from 8 physicians to a multidisciplinary practice with 116 physicians in 2015. The clinical research department has 60 researchers and staff. The orthopaedic department is the only department in the United States that covers all four major professional sports team in the region.

Dr. Vaccaro will be sharing with us the lessons learned in the evolution of the Rothman Institute in face of the sea change in the American healthcare industry. He will outline the challenges faced in maintaining a patient centric practice while at the same time building an organization that prides itself in academic excellence and a satisfying work environment for its stakeholders. These lessons will be valuable for the future of restructured hospitals in Singapore.
