“New Paradigms in Musculoskeletal Oncology”
Up to the 1970’s, amputations were the norm for patients with malignant musculoskeletal tumours. Since then, limb salvage surgery has replaced amputations as the standard of care, with amputations performed only as a last option. Professor Franklin Sim was one of the global pioneers of limb salvage surgery, and pushed the frontiers in this challenging field. With recent advances in imaging, materials and cancer care, the stage is now set for the next paradigm in musculoskeletal oncology.
