Support Our Mission

Did you know?

  • Up to 50% of the population with irreversible glaucoma visual loss remains undiagnosed?
  • Readily available technologies and treatments such as gene therapies are still inaccessible to children and working-age adults in Singapore, leading to irreversible vision loss?

In Singapore, we have one of the fastest aging population in the world, the risk of undetected progressive visual impairment will increase exponentially.

Our mission at the NUHS Centre for Innovation & Precision Eye Health seeks to address these clinically unmet needs. We aim to transform community eye care for the general public, and deliver top-class precision eye care for patients in tertiary specialist centers.

Our strategy encompasses 3 integrated approaches established within the National University Healthcare System:

  1. Enhanced accessibility to community eye care via a hybrid of novel medical devices that are integrated on a population-based digital platform.
  2. Personalized gene and cell therapy through dedicated multi-disciplinary care for patients with inherited ocular diseases including phenotyping and genotyping workup.
  3. The first-of-its-kind local undergraduate and postgraduate optometry degrees to empower our home-grown optometrist to provide primary eye care within the community and within tertiary eye hospitals.

Your support is vital to accomplishing our mission, and your partnership is valued.

For every dollar spent on the prevention of vision loss and eye care, there is a five dollar return to the community in terms of productivity, quality of life, and cost savings.

In Singapore, for every person who avoids visual impairment, there is an annual savings of SGD 5,300 in direct medical cost and reduction in 200 hours of workplace absenteeism per year for each patient.

At Centre for Innovation & Precision Eye Health, we are uniquely positioned and dedicated to magnify the impact of your support in our committed battle against preventable blindness.
