Research Interests and Achievements

The common theme to the 3 key focus of my research is centered on down-stream translation of novel bench-to-bedside research involving glaucoma diagnostics and therapeutics. The scope of my research covers an end-to-end loop from early detection of glaucoma in the community followed by individualized diagnostic work-up in the tertiary ophthalmic practice which leads to latest evidence-based treatment and ultimately back to the community for follow-up. This requires a unique combination of clinical training as an ophthalmologist and an innovator trained in commercialization pathways.

First, the NUS Summit Program in Innovation (SPIN) is the catalyst in decentralization of glaucoma screening/diagnosis in the community. Second, our novel Anterior Segment OCT imaging algorithms would individualize diagnosis and promote precision medicine in angle closure glaucoma management. Third, the development of novel glaucoma therapeutics followed by clinical trials to provide proof-of-concept evidence of efficacy and safety.
