OBSERVERSHIP TRAINING PROGRAMME


The National University Hospital (NUH) is a 950-bed tertiary care centre of the National Healthcare Group (NHG) and the National University of Singapore (NUS).

The Department of Diagnostic Imaging (DDI) provides high quality imaging studies to support a comprehensive range of clinical services. It is also a major professional training centre responsible for basic and advanced training in Diagnostic Radiology. DDI is an active research center for the advancement of imaging through translational research. 

DDI is divided into the following subspecialties:

  1. Body imaging
  2. Musculoskeletal imaging
  3. Neuroradiology
  4. Breast imaging
  5. Interventional radiology
  6. Nuclear medicine

OBSERVERSHIP PROGRAMMES

All applications are subject to Postgraduate committee’s decision and is case to case basis:

Neuroradiology/Head & Neck Imaging
Body Imaging
Musculoskeletal Imaging
Breast Imaging
Vascular & Interventional Radiology
Nuclear Medicine
Paediatric Radiology


Hands-Off Observer

The observer status is accorded to foreign and local doctors for attachment to a clinical department to observe a specific skill with no hands-on experience or any financial commitment from the National University Hospital.

The duration of the observer status is from 2 weeks to 28 days with no extension. Medical registration with Singapore Medical Council is not required.

All candidates applying for "Hands-off" observership must submit full personal particulars, professional qualifications, 2 referees' report, a recent passport-sized photograph and email address.

Candidates must also have:

  • valid health insurance cover during their attachment
  • valid varicella screening
  • immunization for chicken pox and MMR (Measles, Mumps, & Rubella)

Clinical Observer

Observers who request for attachment of more than 28 days will require a medical registration as clinical observer with Singapore Medical Council and Training Employment Pass from the Ministry of Manpower in Singapore. Medical Affairs (Education Office) will assist with the application prior to the commencement of the attachment.
