Dr Amit Kansal, FCICM (Australia/New Zealand), MD - Anesthesia (Delhi), is currently working as a Senior Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine, at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH), Jurong Health Campus (JHS), NUHS, since 2014. He has been appointed as Adj Asst Prof with Dept of Biomedical Informatics, NUS since 2022. He had been the NUHS co-lead for clinical decision support group and Reporting and Data Analysis functional group for Next Generation EMR implementation.
He have been an active supporter of clinical quality initiative activities to ensure highest standards of clinical care. His areas of interest include Cost effectiveness in critical care, role of HFNC therapy in respiratory failure - especially post-extubation HFNC failure, and rapid response systems – care of deteriorating patients on wards. His recent notable publications include Machine Learning Methodologies for outcome prediction and optimization of BPA alerts to reduce alert fatigue among clinicians.
Dr Kansal is a keen educator. He is actively involved in Simulation-based teaching and is a facilitator for Simulation-faculty Development. Additionally, he is an instructor for many internationally recognized courses – ATLS, ‘BASIC’ & ‘Beyond BASIC’ (Advanced course in Nephrology, Airway & Mechanical Ventilation’ course) – ‘Basic Assessment and support in Intensive Care’. He is actively involved in multidisciplinary teaching activities involving doctors, nurses, allied health as well as teaching initiatives internationally in India, Sri Lanka, Philippines, and Australia.
