Internship Placements

Biomedical Informatics (BMI) - AI in Healthcare Internship

DBMI offers internship opportunities for students interested in exploring the intersection of artificial intelligence and healthcare.

The DBMI AI in Healthcare Internship provides a structured learning environment where students can contribute to ongoing research projects while developing practical skills in various aspects of biomedical informatics, data analysis, and AI applications in healthcare. Interns will work alongside faculty members, researchers, and healthcare professionals to gain real-world experience in applying computational methods to healthcare challenges.

The programme is designed to provide hands-on experience in biomedical informatics while preparing students for potential careers or further studies in this rapidly evolving field.

*Please note that MSc in Biomedical Informatics students are not eligible for this internship.

Internship Guidelines

Interns need to find a mentor from the DBMI faculty prior to submitting their forms. The mentor will discuss the internship details with the intern and define the Research Training Program. Please complete ANNEX B after discussing with the mentor and send the form to dbmi_internships@nus.edu.sg.

Local Students

Once approved by the mentor, local students must apply for the local internship here.

The duration of the internship must be at least 3 months and may extend up to a maximum of 12 months. A stipend will not be offered unless specifically funded by the supervisor.

No remote internships are allowed.

Please note that this internship program does not qualify as a credit-bearing professional internship.

International Students

Once accepted by the mentor, international students are required to apply for TEP (Training Employment Pass). Please refer to ANNEX A for details. International students must also submit the required documents listed in ANNEX A to dbmi_internships@nus.edu.sg.

Please note that the TEP application process will take approximately 8 to 10 weeks, and the Pre-Employment Screening Clearance will require an additional 4 to 6 weeks for completion. Therefore, the overall processing time for the internship may take approximately 4 to 5 months.

The duration of the internship must be at least 3 months and may extend up to a maximum of 12 months. No housing or accommodation will be provided. A stipend will not be offered unless specifically funded by the supervisor.

No remote internships are allowed.

Please note that this internship program does not qualify as a credit-bearing professional internship.
