Foundation of Medical Education

  • Objective

    Participants will be able to gain more in-depth knowledge of medical education principles and apply the principles for their self-development.

  • Curriculum

    Faculty mentors / content experts in the domain of interest will be working closely with the participants for four weeks. Participants will get to learn about the foundations of medical education and best practices, and scholarship in medical education including basic principles of educational research.

  • Deliverables

    Participants will be completing a series of online medical education modules and developing a study proposal, collecting / analysing data, writing up an abstract, or a 1-page reflective report with focus on medical education.

  • Duration

    2 to 4 weeks


Clinical Elective with Focus on Medical Education

  • Objective

    Participants will be able to gain general knowledge of medical education principles and apply the principles for their self-development.

  • Curriculum

    While participants are going through their clinical electives, they will be spending one afternoon per week with a medical education mentor and learning through specific health profession / medical education studies as identified by the clinical and education mentors.

  • Deliverables

    Participants will be developing a study proposal, collecting / analysing data, writing up an abstract, or write a 1-page reflective report with focus on medical education.

  • Duration

    Half a day per week, 2 to 4 weeks


  • Who Can Apply

    The CenMED Electives are open to all NUS and non-NUS Medicine students in their clinical years.
