NNMT in Kidney Disease Progression

A recent study by Prof. Sorrentino and his team members uncovers the pro-aging role of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT) in driving tubular cell senescence and fibrosis in kidney disease. The findings position NNMT as a promising therapeutic target for slowing CKD progression through metabolic and epigenetic modulation.

Trigonelline as an NAD⁺ Precursor in Aging Muscle:

This study by Jerome N. Feige, and Sorrentino’s team members, published in Nature Metabolism identifies trigonelline as a novel NAD⁺ precursor that supports muscle function in aging. The work connects metabolic decline in NAD⁺ pathways to sarcopenia and highlights trigonelline supplementation as a potential therapeutic avenue.
