Course Overview

This module will cover two areas in its current progress:

1. Complexity in cardiometabolic diseases from genetics to lifestyle;

2. Application of precision medicine based on biomarkers, mechanistic stratification and targeted therapy.

Learning Outcomes

1. Know major forms of heart diseases: genetic vs. acquired.

2. Know major forms of metabolic disorders: genetic vs. acquired.

3. Tools and methods in genetic, molecular and metabolic diagnosis of cardiometabolic diseases;

4. Imaging modalities for disease diagnosis 

5. Interaction between metabolic and cardiovascular diseases

Course Outline

1. Cardiovascular system: precision machine with imprecise regulatory network

2. Metabolic system: control of metabolic homeostasis

3. Systems genetic approach to dissect complex diseases and complex disease interactions

4. Interaction between metabolic and cardiovascular diseases

5. Genetics for diagnosis and therapy
