Her pursuit of knowledge then took her to Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland, where she earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (DGO). After completing her overseas training, she returned with renewed enthusiasm for medical education and joined the Anatomy Department at the National University of Singapore (NUS). She has since played a pivotal role in educating undergraduate students across various disciplines, including Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Life Sciences.
Her academic journey continued with the completion of a Master of Science (MSc) in Neuroscience from NUS Medicine in 2020, with a focus on Neuroanatomy. She remains committed to inspiring and shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals through her dedication to teaching and research.
Dr Jaya is at the forefront of integrating digital technology into medical education. She is currently leading a project aimed at the digitalization of histology slides for the NUS-HALO e-museum within the Department of Anatomy. This innovative project is set to transform traditional microscope-based teaching into a modern, digitalized learning platform for histology.
Dr Jaya's research interests are centred around understanding the molecular and epigenetic mechanisms of hypoxia, particularly focusing on the impact of resveratrol on microglial activation under hypoxic conditions.
