SHIP (Safety & Health Improvement Programme) 2009 Gold Award
The Safety-Savvy team comprising of Mrs Lim Thiew Peng (leader), Yeo Soh Bee and Kelly Ngerng Wang Jee has won the Gold Award with their project "Safety Website Games". This award came with a cash prize of $2,000.
ASHPA (Annual Safety & Health Performance Award) 2009
The Department of Medicine was awarded the $15,000 "Merit with Commendation" prize for ASHPA.
UMC Doctor Wins Young Investigator Award
Congratulations to Dr Kewin Siah (Medical Officer Trainee, UMC) who received the Young Investigator Award at the First Biennial Congress of the Asian Neurogastroenterology and Motility Association in Seoul, Korea recently. Under the mentorship of Adjunct A/Prof Gwee Kok Ann of NUHS, Dr Siah submitted a total of three abstracts related to Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

Awarded Merit Prize for the ‘Pitch for Funds’ Round
Congratulations to A/Prof Annelies for being awarded the Merit Prize of S$5,000 for the ‘Pitch for Funds’ Round on 16 March for the research project : "Using time-series analysis to study the relationship between dengue fever and climatic factors".
Awarded NHG FY2008 Small Innovative Grant
Congratulations to Dr. Chan Yee Cheun (Neurology) for being awarded with the NHG FY2008 Small Innovative Grant for his research on 'RTMS (repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation) as adjunct treatment of primary chronic headaches'
Record $25 million set aside for Gastric Cancer Research
A team of 19 researchers from NUS, National Cancer Centre (NCC) and NUH has won a record $25 million in funding to help improve early detection of gastric cancer and possibly find a cure for it.
Award for the Best Clinical Research Work
Professor Clive Wilder-Smith has been awarded the distinctive award for the Best Clinical Research Work at the Second International Congress on Neuropathic Pain in Berlin. The paper was entitled "Prediction of Clinical Neuropathic Pain Responses Using Experimental Pain Measures in Postamputation Pain".
