Postnatal deletion of Spns2 prevents neuroinflammation without compromising blood vascular functions

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a debilitating disease with few therapeutic options. Sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) is a potent lipid mediator secreted by several cell types and is involved in several important biological pathways. Assistant Prof Nguyen Nam Long collaborated with A/Prof Veronique Angeli and A/Prof Zhang Yongliang in a study which showed the targeting of S1P transporters could be a potential therapeutic target in treating MS and other neuroinflammatory diseases.
