PhD and Postdoctoral Positions

Date: 22 April 2026

Location: YONG LOO LIN SCH OF MEDICINE, Kent Ridge Campus, SG

Company: National University of Singapore

National University of Singapore is a top ranked leading global research university and a hub for biomedical science. The Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine offers a highly collaborative environment with strengths in immunology, infectious disease, and translational research.

Singapore provides strong bench-to-bedside integration, a highly international research environment, excellent infrastructure and safety, and a high quality of life.

Purpose of the Post

Dr. Alan Hsu received his Ph.D. from Purdue University and completed his postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School. His research focuses on neutrophil biology and mechanisms of inflammation resolution. He has published multiple papers in leading journals such as Cell, Immunity, and others and has proposed a new mechanism by which neutrophils actively regulate inflammation resolution.

Dr. Hsu will join the National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in August 2026 to establish his independent laboratory. His lab is supported by the Presidential Young Professor (PYP) program with substantial startup funding. We are currently recruiting PhD students and postdoctoral fellows, and welcome ambitious and driven candidates to apply.

Main Duties And Responsibilities

The laboratory focuses on neutrophil biology, inflammation, and resolution mechanisms, with an emphasis on how immune responses transition from pro-inflammatory to pro-resolving states, and how the immune landscape shifts in aging and chronic inflammation.

Key directions:

  1. Mechanisms regulating neutrophil functional states during infection, aging, cancer, and chronic inflammation
  2. Role of extracellular vesicles (e.g., LAND-Vs) in inflammation and inflammation resolution
  3. Therapeutic strategies to reprogram neutrophils toward pro-resolution functions

Qualifications

We are seeking individuals who are scientifically independent and driven, curious about the biology and function of neutrophils, and motivated to build a strong publication record.

To apply, please send your CV, a brief statement of research interests, and contact information for 2–3 references to immunoTRP@nus.edu.sg
