Welcome to our specialized Scientific Editing service at Medical and Scientific Communication, Research Support Unit, where your manuscript or grant proposal receives expert in-depth editing and strategic advice from a trained postdoctoral scientific editor with a strong background in scientific/medical research and extensive experience in scientific writing. Our scientific editing service aims to elevate the success of your scientific pursuits by enhancing the quality, clarity, and impact of your work, propelling it closer to your goals for manuscript publication or grant awards.

You may choose either an (i) English language editing service (with a shorter turnaround time) or (ii) a developmental editing service. The latter ensures that your work not only adheres to the highest linguistic standards but also benefits from strategic enhancements to its overall structure, clarity, and impact.

 

What to expect?
The editing service for submission of – manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals and of competitive grant applications to funding agencies consists of the following:
(a) Medical review, Content flow and consistency check,
(b) Language correction of errors in spelling, grammar, and punctuation,
(c) Rephrasing sentences that sound unnatural or confusing, and making the style sound more professional and
(d) Applying the most commonly preferred stylistic conventions for various aspects of academic write-ups.
Please note: The service is offered on a first-come-first-served basis, and the decision for acceptance, based on the current work in the pipeline, is informed within 3-4 working days.

This service is ideal for those:
– Aiming for High-Impact Journals: If you’re striving to publish your research in prestigious journals with high impact factors (Q1 and Q1 Journals), our service is tailored to elevate your manuscript to meet the stringent standards of these publications.
– Seeking a Streamlined Peer Review Process: Shorten your peer review period by proactively identifying and addressing potential issues in your manuscript or grant application before submission. Our editor enhances clarity, structure, and impact, ensuring a smoother and more efficient peer review process.

Our Services

1. Manuscript Editing Service
Pre-submission manuscript editing service is open to all faculty members of the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry and Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health and NUHS physician-investigators/ scientists/ innovators and other medical/healthcare researchers.

Selection Criteria:
– All faculty members of the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry and Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, NUHS physician-researchers, and other medical/healthcare researchers.
– Submitting to Q1 & Q2 Journals only (please check the ranking for your scientific journal here before submitting your article for editing)
– Journal guidelines fulfilled before submission of the final draft.

2. Grant enhancement Service
While editing grant proposals, our experienced editor will help applicants better articulate their research ideas, aims, objectives, and strategies. The aim is to produce a proposal that is concise, logical, clear, and easy for reviewers to read and understand. You may submit an Abstract, Executive summary, or full grant proposal for editing.
(a) Editing Service for Grant Enhancement Masterclass: In collaboration with CSDU, a distinguished panel comprising senior and core faculty members offers comprehensive guidance to aspiring clinician-scientists, assisting them in preparing for their NMRC grant submission within five months. Writing and editing facilities will be provided as part of this service.
(b) Grant Proposal Editing Service: Individual physicians practicing in institutions under the National University Health System may contact us directly for developmental or pre-submission editing of drafts of the research grant proposals.

Due to limited service capacity, interested individuals are advised to contact us early to book service slots. For optimal support, we recommend initiating the preparation of your grant proposal well in advance and appreciate your understanding in reaching out to us at least 4 weeks in advance, while refraining from reaching out for assistance right before the submission deadline.

 

Confidentiality
We understand and respect the confidentiality of your research ideas and unpublished findings. Every article you submit to us for editing will be considered private and confidential. We adhere to a strict privacy policy that will not allow disclosure of your pre-published content to any third party without your explicit consent.
