To accomplish our mission, the PAEDS team strive to provide safety programs through video screening, safety quizzes , safety posters display, department safety day and new induction form for new personnel.
PAEDS & HIP teams launched a combined CarePack initiative to promote the well-being of staff and graduate-students in the Department of Paediatrics during COVID-19 pandemic. This initiative aimed to boost the morale, mental & physical well-being during this challenging time.
Items in the CarePack: Granola bars, Soya bean drink, Vitamin C supplements, hand sanitizer and YLLSoM lanyard.

In anticipation of the return to work after the Circuit Breaker in June 2020, HIP-SHIP prepared and equipped the Department with the needed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (i.e. hand sanitizers and face masks), a challenging task when such resources were scarce then.
The Emergency Preparedness team subsequently took over the routine provision of face masks to continue the Department's effort to protect staff and graduate-students against Covid-19 while at work.
Once every 2 months, one box of face mask (containing 50 pcs) was distributed to each staff and students.

To identify and improve on aspects of chemical safety in the laboratories that may pose potential hazards, so as to raise the overall level of safety in the Department of Paediatrics.
To promote healthy lifestyles & bonding within work & family among fellow co-workers through encouraging physical & mental health maintenance so as to create a healthy, enjoyable & most importantly, a safe working environment.

Following the success of our first flu vaccination exercise launched in Jul/ Aug 2020, this is the second flu vaccination exercise organised for Department of Paediatrics' laboratory community. Similar to the earlier exercise, all vaccination cost were covered by the Department.
Flu vaccination exercise was conducted from 26 Oct to 30 Nov 2020, with a total of 31 staff and graduate-students participated in this event.
In view of the global COVID pandemic and University Health Centre's (UHC) promotion to encourage staff to be vaccinated against influenza, the HIP-SHIP team sought Head of Department's support to fully cover the vaccination cost for all staff and graduate-students to reduce the incidence and transmission of flu in our Department, and to promote general good health in this trying times.
Flu vaccination exercise was conducted from 9 to 30 Aug 2020, with active participations from 32 staff & graduate students.
