The proceeds will go towards paediatric oncology research and education at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, to improve the cure rates for children with cancer. There is a pressing need for this as cancer is one of the top disease killers of children around the world. Here in Asia, the situation is particularly dire as 50 per cent of the world’s burden of childhood cancer resides in this region and only 20 per cent get cured.

The NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUS Medicine) has launched Kickstart Initiative, a new translational medicine programme that helps bring promising biomedical research projects to market.
